Life of a One Year Old

Now that Breckin is one we both look at him and he just seems so much more like a little boy instead of a baby. He is getting so long looking and at his one year well baby check up was a whole 18 lbs 7 oz! He has five teeth that he uses to munch on his favorite foods which include: peas, PB&J, hummus, frozen blueberries and Mexican food. Even though he still is not walking, that does not stop him from getting where he wants to go and getting into everything. He likes to take a couple steps at a time but gets upset if we try to get him to do any more, then he plops down on his bottom and off he scoots. It is especially fun to get Mommy or Daddy to chase him, he gets a real kick out of it!

Playing ball takes up most of his time but when he isn't doing that he loves to read books. It is really cute because he now points to pictures and reads aloud to himself, it is a great pastime in the car.

Trucks are another favorite toy and he has gotten to be a pro at zooming them around the house and making motor noises (such a boy)!
Rob and I are realizing how closely he watches us as he has become quite the mimic. He loves to have a morning cup of coffee with us. He "drinks" his coffee with exaggerated slurping and sighs of satisfaction. He also holds his many cell phones up to his ear and carries on conversations.
And then there is Breckin's stinker side. 99% of the time he is such a sweet and loving little boy, however he has discovered the art of throwing a temper tantrum when he doesn't get his way and is just so curious that he has a hard time staying out of things that he shouldn't get into. He managed to get my babyproofing hair tie off of the kitchen cupboards and when I caught him he quickly tried to put them back on! Another stunt he pulled, that Daddy was less than thrilled about, he stuck a ball in one of our speakers. We have yet to figure out how to remove it, oops!

The rest of our summer fun will be following shortly, since it is rapidly coming to an end!
