Train Park

Last weekend we went to the Train Park and had so much fun! I didn't know if Breckin was really old enough to enjoy it but since it is free we decided it couldn't hurt to try it out. He loved every minute of it, he couldn't figure out what to look at first! Maybe we have instilled an early love of trains in him since he has one going around his room. At the park there are small model trains that you can watch going around and he would get so excited every time he could hear one coming. We also rode on the bigger trains, he quietly took it all in and let out an occasional "whoo, whoo." I think that we will be visiting the Train Park many more times in the near future, can't pass up free family fun!

We Love Our Opa

Rob's Step-dad, Doug, was diagnosed with having a blood clot in his leg a few weeks ago. Doctors started him on medication to help thin his blood and hopefully resolve the blood clot. However last Friday night we had quite a scare when Opa started having stroke like symptoms and he was rushed to the hospital. He was thought to have had a TIA or a mini-stroke caused by a piece of the blood clot breaking off and going to his brain. It was also discovered that he has a small hole in his heart, that he has likely had since birth, that is allowing the blood clots to go to his brain. Luckily he recovered fully from this episode. We were told the likelihood of this happening again is pretty slim and the doctors adjusted his medication dosage and sent him home. Well shortly after returning home Doug started having another attack and was rushed back to the hospital once again. This was very scary for the whole family because we thought that things were back under control. Doctors are now, with much urging from the family, exploring all possible options and running a battery of tests. Right now our number one concern is that he may be allergic to the blood thinning medication that he is on and it would explain the episodes he has been having. This is the best we have to go off of at this point and we are all just hoping and praying for a positive outcome for our Opa.
